Coworking Desks in Sydney

Sydney is the most expensive city in the country to rent a desk in, and almost all of that cost is sold by the month. This page is the other option: a desk in a real working business, booked for the hours you actually need it.

What a desk costs in Sydney

A dedicated desk in a Sydney coworking building averages about $681 a month — the highest of any Australian capital. Spread across 21 working days that is roughly $32 a day, and that is the number to hold onto, because you pay it for the days you do not use the desk as well as the days you do. Casual, by-the-hour space only has to beat the per-day cost of the days you would actually turn up.

Sydney$681 per desk / month
Brisbane$495
Melbourne$493
Perth$471
Adelaide$460

Where desk space clusters in Sydney

Sydney does not have one workspace market, it has about six, and they price differently. The CBD and North Sydney are corporate towers and charge like it. Surry Hills, Redfern and Chippendale are the creative and agency belt. Pyrmont and Ultimo skew tech and media. Parramatta functions as a second CBD with genuinely different rates from the first. Alexandria, Marrickville and Botany are where the warehouse conversions are, and where a desk usually comes with parking that the CBD cannot offer. Which of those you are near matters more to what you pay than almost anything else.

Can I book a desk in Sydney for a single day?

Yes. Each host sets an hourly rate, a daily rate, or both, plus an optional minimum booking length — all shown on the listing before you request it. Your card is authorised when you send the request and only charged once the host confirms.

How is this different from a coworking membership?

A membership is a monthly commitment to one building. This is a booking. You pay for the day, in whichever suburb suits that day, and there is nothing to cancel afterwards.

What if there is nothing listed in my suburb yet?

Then this page will say so and show you the nearest spaces instead. CoHub is an early marketplace and the honest answer is better than a padded one — and if you have spare desk space yourself, being the first listing in your suburb is worth more than being the tenth in someone else's.
