Sydney photography studio hire runs from about $40 an hour at the low end to $300 at the top, with most working studios between $85 and $195. Full days start near $200 for a small CBD room and pass $900 for a large cyc studio. Weekends usually cost more — often twenty to twenty-five per cent — so a shoot that can happen on a Tuesday should.

Why the same room costs half as much two suburbs away
Suburb moves studio pricing more than almost anything else — studios around Surry Hills average roughly $80 an hour while studios near the harbour average close to $240 for a comparable room. Beyond location, four things drive the price: ceiling height and floor area, whether the natural light can be controlled or only endured, whether there is a proper seamless cyc, and the unglamorous things around the room — parking, a loading dock, a change room, a makeup bench. None of those show up in a photo of the space and all of them matter at 7am with four cases of gear.
