Appropriate & inappropriate use

A plain-language version of what's fine and what isn't across every part of CoHub — Spaces, Gigs, messaging, profiles and reviews. The full legal wording lives in the Terms of Service; this is the short version.

The short version

Be who you actually are, describe things accurately, keep payment on the platform, and treat other members the way you’d want to be treated. Almost everything below is just that, applied to a specific part of CoHub.

Appropriate use

Listing a Space, posting a task, or hosting an event that’s described accurately.
A Professional Profile that’s genuinely you (or, if you’re posting on behalf of a business, genuinely that business).
Paying for bookings and gigs through CoHub, so payment stays protected on both sides.
Honest reviews, written after a real booking or task, good or bad.
Messaging people you have a genuine reason to be in touch with — see how messaging works.
Posting a task that’s a defined, one-off piece of work — not disguised ongoing employment.
Holding whatever licence, permit or insurance a Space or a task actually requires by law.

Inappropriate use

You must not, anywhere on CoHub:

Arrange payment for a booking or a task outside the platform to avoid the CoHub fee.
Post false, misleading, or discriminatory content in a listing, a task, a profile, a message, or a review.
Post a task that’s really an offer of ongoing employment dressed up as one-off contract work, to get around employment obligations like super or minimum entitlements.
Harass, threaten, or discriminate against another member on any ground protected by Australian law.
Use a Space unlawfully, or in a way that breaches the Host Licence Agreement, the listing’s stated rules, or any law or by-law that applies.
Perform, or ask a worker to perform, a task unlawfully, or without a licence, permit, qualification or insurance the work legally requires.
Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the platform, or create an account with false information or on someone else’s behalf without authority.
Infringe someone else’s intellectual property or privacy.
Create an unsafe workplace, breach work-health-and-safety duties, or expose anyone to foreseeable harm through your use of a Space or a task.

Why this matters, even for the small stuff

Every safeguard CoHub offers — payment held until confirmation, reviews you can actually trust, an admin approval step before anything goes public — only works if the information behind it is honest. An inflated review, a vague task description, or payment quietly taken off-platform undoes the protection for everyone, not just the person doing it.

What happens if something crosses the line

Breaching this can lead to content being removed, an account being suspended, or — for serious or repeated breaches — an account being closed. If you see something on CoHub that looks like it breaches this, the fastest way to flag it is through the conversation it happened in, if there is one, or straight to us via the contact form below.
